More AU Basketball Blather: Note: If you don't really care about Patriot League basketball, just skip this post.
Well, my second half prediction is 5 for 5. But I'd LOVE to be 3 for 5. 3 damned points. I suppose this weekend was really a tale of two last-second three-pointers. Down 68-66 to Holy Cross with 7 ticks left, Steven Miles penetrates, passes to a wide open Matej Cresnik, who misses a game-winning three. Down 59-57 with 1.5 seconds to go, Colgate's Tim Sullivan sends a baseball pass to Mark Linebaugh, who nails a half-court three to win. AU's 0-2 on the weekend. American's 7-5, tied with Bucknell and Colgate for third, a game behind Lehigh (who surprisingly lost to 6-6 Lafayette, and still has a game with Holy Cross coming up). Holy Cross clinches the regular season title at 11-1.
AU's problems lies in its road woes. American is 3-12 on the road. Three and twelve. That's (to paraphrase Bill Walton) HORRRRR-IBLE! The three wins are Liberty, Navy, and Army. Liberty's the only half-decent team of those three (at 13-12). And now, AU needs a Holy Cross loss in the PL tourney to get a home final (at minimum).
Army Thursday. Lafayette Saturday. And then tourney time.
