And so it begins...: At here at AU, the student strike movement is strong. Didn't notice too many standers or black armbands or no-shows in my first class, but a midterm might have had something to do with that. Going to my 9:55, I noticed the ads for the rally on the quad at 5 today, with the following sign posted near/between them: "THANK YOU. YOUR FRIEND, SADDAM HUSSEIN." They were gone by the time I was done with my midterm. Sorry, no picture.

In other news, this stuff just seems to fall into my lap. Geez! This one right off the AU-Libertarians listserv:

========= TODAY'S ANTI-WAR EVENTS: ON CAMPUS =========

10:00 AM: Batelle Atrium: Teach-in run by members of American
University's leftist faculty.

2:00 PM: Mary Graydon Center: Die-in. Meet at 1:30 at the MGC
table if you are interested in participating.

4:00 PM: Open Microphone outside of Kay (good for promoting the
libertarian message!!)

5:00 PM: Rally. Several speakers. Afterwards, a candlelight vigil at
Ward Circle.

9:00 PM: Organizational Meeting in Leonard Formal Lounge

FOR AU STUDENTS
-- Vigil ALL Night at the Quad
-- Panel Forum in Kay Spiritual Center

========= TODAY'S ANTI-WAR EVENTS: OFF CAMPUS =========

There seem to be a lot of simultaneous events going on in DC today.
I'll try to highlight some of them ...

-- 33 DC Metro high schools are participating in Walkouts today
-- DC Students will meet at Farragut North Metro at 1pm
-- All DC area students meet at Judiciary Square Metro at 4pm
-- 5:00 PM: Meeting at Dupont Circle Metro Station, move to gather
at the Ellipse, behind the White House, on Constitution, between
16th & 17th for a permitted, non-violent rally with speakers and music.

Other events:

-- From our favorite leftist friends at A.N.S.W.E.R.:
Thursday, March 20: WALKOUT / STAY AWAY! CONVERGE TO
PROTEST AT 12 NOON: In the morning, either go to work or school
and encourage others to leave to join the protest, or spend the
morning leafleting for other people to join. Converge at 12 noon in city
centers -- in Washington D.C. at the White House -- to engage in
protest actions against the war [and FOR LIBERTY!!].
