As Conan would say, "Gotta mention this...":
By now, I fully expect most AU students to have read the Washington Post article on the investigation of Ben Ladner's expenses. I got the IM around midnight last night telling me about it, and then immediately began to send it to others. It's like the old shampoo commercial: "And they tell two friends...and so on, and so on, and so on."
It hit the AU LiveJournal group late this morning, exposing it to another large group of students, including the incoming freshmen.
Heck, this story is so big, it actually woke up BenLadner.com and knocked its format back into its two-years ago, actual-muckraking days.
More coverage, DCist, DCent, and AU Sucks.
I'll also add a point that my friend Jenn pointed out last night, in the last paragraph of the article. "Ladner's compensation does not include campus housing; he has lived on campus in a house purchased for him by the trustees." I assume this means the house near Hughes, which I assumed was office space, and not the Glenbrook Road house behind the school (which he uses for functions)? In which case, that's an error, although one probably made through assumptions of perusing the records ("Hey, they give him a house; he must live there.")
